If Alphabet’s prime division can create self-driving cars and even keep up with Apple, Google has the means to create an application that would serve as your travel assistant.
Yes, I know you’re thinking that Maps is already a great app to guide you to hot tourist spots and points of interest. But this one is different.
A bit of a background first:
Google had emailed its party of Local Guides. These guides, established in 2015, had been correcting, adding and subtracting from Google Maps’ database of photos, videos and addresses that appear on its map.
These guys have levels. Level 2+ explorers have received an email to try a new app.
According to local guides who were lucky enough to use the app, it was something that allowed them to use their expertise of their areas to guide travellers and allow them to “jump” from one tour guide to the other.
It may be a next-level based peer-to-peer tour app. It might be that locals who understand their locations effectively can earn more. And being a local guide at a top level right now, who’s more qualified?
Google has all the means to get this ambition plan started, mind you. All we need to do is wait and see what’s going to happen in the next year or so.
